CHINA'S SOFTWARE, INFO OUTSOURCING SERVICE IN STEADY GROWTH

DALIAN, Jun 19, 2009 (AsiaPulse via COMTEX) -- China's software and information service outsourcing services maintained robust growth regardless of the negative influence of shrinking external demand, to achieve 20 per cent growth in the contracted value of software exports and making outsourcing service.

China's contracted value of software exports, excluding embedded software, grew 21.6 per cent year on year to US$2.53 billion in the first five months of 2009, and that of services outsourcing went up 25.9 per cent to US$2.59 billion.

In 2008, the contracted value of software exports amounted to US$3.38 billion, surging 80.2 per cent, and that of service outsourcing, including information technology outsourcing and business process outsourcing skyrocketed 160 per cent to US$3.81 billion.

The steady improvement in China's software export and information service outsourcing can be attributed to the solid foundation of the industry, as well as China's supportive measures for R&D, education and the software industry, according to Wang Chao, Assistant Minister of Commerce.

The Ministry will continue to work on the policy guiding system of the industry, improve the quality of service outsourcing and reinforce the establishment of bases for innovation. These efforts will help ward off the financial crisis and support the industry's future development.

China's foreign trade has been negatively influenced by the financial crisis since November 2008. The country's total imports and exports of service trade amounted to US$304.5 billion in 2008, up 21.3 per cent year on year, but the growth fell 9.6 percentage points from 2007.
