Boots & Coots Selects Certeon to Accelerate Data Replication and Disaster Recovery

Certeon, the leading provider of virtualized WAN optimization and application acceleration, today announces that Boots & Coots, a leading pressure control vendor in the oil and gas industry, has selected Certeon's (News - Alert) aCelera Sync virtual appliance to optimize backup and recovery operations between its data center and remote replication site. Using aCelera Sync software, Boots & Coots realized a more than 90 percent reduction in backup and replication times as well as network bandwidth utilization. Boots & Coots also gained a 50 percent savings in up-front costs by purchasing aCelera Sync as opposed to using a hardware-based WAN optimization solution.

Boots & Coots provides a suite of integrated pressure control services to onshore and offshore oil and gas exploration and development companies worldwide. Their internal disaster recovery environment between their Houston, Texas, data center and Austin, Texas, replication site was continuously moving incremental data backups over a 20 Mbps network with 10 ms of latency. Boots & Coots had deployed a leading hardware-based WAN optimization solution but did not see any significant reduction in the backup and replication response time or network bandwidth utilization.
