By Anshu Shrivastava, TMCnet Contributor
CA reportedly has selected Toronto, Canada-based Geminare and its SaaS (News - Alert)-based hosting platform to deliver a business continuity managed service to the small and medium-sized business market.
The channel-focused service helps partners offer customers protection from “unplanned outages” within 24 hours of becoming authorized, said Geminare officials.
Usually compared to larger companies, the SMBs are ill-equipped to manage the IT infrastructure. Officials said that this service delivers enterprise-class continuous availability, eliminating the need for capital investment.
Moreover, this offer “simplifies” the buying experience for customers. Officials said especially the customers who want to deal with a single vendor for procurement, deployment, service, and also support hosted SaaS-based business continuity requirements.
A host-based system is provided to the customers by combining CA (News - Alert) XOsoft product with Geminare’s patent-pending SaaS Business Continuity Platform.
CA XOsoft software offers data protection and near-instantaneous failover and restoration through WAN-optimized replication of files, email and databases. Geminare’s SaaS business continuity solution is powered by CA XOsoft software, enabling partners to capitalize on the emerging market opportunity.
This strategic partnership allows CA and Geminare to meet customers’ requirements for protecting and recovering critical applications and information from any location across their firm, said Adam Famularo, senior vice president and general manager of Recovery Management and Data Modeling business unit at CA.
Officials said that this assures customers that their critical technology infrastructure—such as Windows based file and application servers—are provided uninterrupted access and does not require onsite hardware and capital purchases.
The offering includes SaaS-based, data protection through WAN replication of file servers and databases for Windows Servers, Microsoft Exchange, Microsoft SQL, Microsoft IIS, BlackBerry (News - Alert) and Oracle.
The service also encompasses application availability through fully automated failover and failback for file servers, Exchange, SQL, IIS and Oracle (News - Alert); provisioning and deployment in days from start of customer management, replication and reporting; and more.
Joshua Geist, chief executive officer at Geminare, said that using this solution, CA customers will be able to compete in a challenging economic environment.
Additionally, utilizing the Geminare platform, Geist said, CA can now allow their base of channel partners the ability to sell disaster recovery and business continuity as a service into their customers.
