SkillSoft to Deliver Sun-Authored e-Learning Courseware

By Shamila Janakiraman, TMCnet Contributor

SkillSoft has announced that it will be marketing and distributing Sun-authored e-learning courseware for the company’s new Java and Solaris software solutions, according to a new agreement. SkillSoft specializes in providing Software-as-a-Service (SaaS (News - Alert)) for e-learning and performance support solutions for global enterprises, government, educational institutions and SMBs.

The company’s clients will benefit from more resources for the training, development and certification of their IT organizations.

“This partnership with SkillSoft allows us to offer highly effective training courses on a leading e-learning platform to customers who are looking to enhance the skills of their IT professionals by leveraging our flexible training options,” said Denny Schall, senior director, Sun Learning Services.

“We are excited to work with SkillSoft in this strategic relationship to promote and distribute the Sun Collection of Java and Solaris training and certification programs, and we anticipate tremendous interest and results,” added Schall.

The Solaris and Java courses include 300 hours of content provision within SkillSoft’s Sun Collection. The content is required for critical job roles in software application development and in systems, network and security administration. The collection is most suitable for Sun’s Java and Solaris certification programs and also offers many ePractice Exams so that learners can assess their ability before actually taking the exam.

Lee Ritze, senior vice president of marketing at SkillSoft, said that this extension of partnership with Sun will help collaborative efforts to offer its suite of Solaris and Java e-learning products to SkillSoft customers. This will be a cost-effective solution for certifying IT professionals on these important technologies. The increase in courseware and certification opportunities will also help employers to hire individuals who are well trained and certified on Sun technologies.

SkillSoft is a SaaS provider of on-demand e-learning and performance support solutions to businesses of all sizes. The company’s solutions help business organizations to improve business performance by offering a combination of comprehensive e-learning content, online information resources, flexible learning technologies and support services

The course content offerings include business, IT, desktop, compliance and consumer/SMB courseware collections, besides complementary content assets like Leadership Development Channel video products, KnowledgeCenter portals, virtual instructor-led training services and online mentoring services.
