Scio Consulting Offers SaaS Acceleration Solutions to ISVs

By Rajani Baburajan, TMCnet Contributor

According to Scio Consulting, an outsourced product development (OPD) company, it is important for software companies to offer solutions that provide their customers an alternative to traditional front-loaded licensing model.

Scio Consulting has announced the launch of a collection of Software-as-a-Service (SaaS (News - Alert)) Acceleration Solutions to help software companies transition to these type of solutions.

Scio’s SaaS Acceleration Solutions help small- and medium-sized independent software vendors (ISVs) convert new products or portions of their existing on-premise application portfolio to SaaS.

There are three major service components included in the SaaS Acceleration Solutions offering.

The first component, SaaS Readiness Evaluation, is a business consulting assignment, which helps ISVs to examine the SaaS business model for their own market and products. It covers business planning, market analysis, application evaluation and includes a SaaS business case and a working prototype.

This assignment enables ISVs to leverage Scio’s SaaS expertise to quickly and cost-effectively build a roadmap leading to product profitability, says Luis Aburto, Scio founder and CEO. It will provide them with the opportunity to visualize and validate their software positioned as SaaS before they invest significant resources in development.

The second component of SaaS Acceleration Solutions, called SaaS Technical Assessment, provides technical recommendations related to the issues that will affect the performance, scalability, manageability and security of the application, such as application architecture, tenancy and provisioning model options, integration requirements, database design, infrastructure architecture, and usability.

SaaS application development services, the third component, uses resources from the Scio Nearshore Delivery Center and leverage cost-effective software development resources experienced in building SaaS applications.

“Our team is experienced with Agile (News - Alert) development methodologies and Web application product development best practices,” said Aburto. “The development team is experienced with Platform-as-a-Service (PaaS) rapid development tools as well as custom development of SaaS applications.”

Scio also addresses specific business and technical consulting needs of ISVs, as a nearshore outsourced product development partner or for nearshore team augmentation. With all of these approaches, ISVs benefit from the SaaS and Agile development experience of the Scio team and from the close geographical and time zone proximity of Mexico, Scio said.
