NetQoS Performance Center Synergizes with EMC Smarts
By Shireen Dee, TMCnet Contributor
NetQoS, a provider of network performance management software and services, recently announced that network first responders may now resolve issues using NetQoS Performance Center reports. These reports are now available direct from within the EMC (News - Alert) Smarts Service Assurance Manager.
The NetQoS Connector for EMC Smarts has been designed to reduce application response time and bring network traffic with its performance metrics analysis into the EMC Smarts management tool. Also, network operations center (NOC (News - Alert)) users can quickly identify application performance problems and determine the underlying cause.
“The problem is that network operations groups often do not know about an application slowdown until a user calls to complain. Lacking the performance tools to investigate this type of problem, operations teams usually escalate the issue to an engineering group, which slows down troubleshooting and delays resolution,” said Matt Sherrod, vice president of Product Management for NetQoS (News - Alert).
“The NetQoS Connector for EMC Smarts is really a shrewd matchmaker, resulting in a marriage between performances and faults that better arms NOC staff to proactively monitor application performance and take action without escalation or having to learn an entirely new product or discipline,” he added.
Network operations personnel are now able to solve performance issues on their own. With this, network engineering teams can have more time to plan and resolve higher level troubleshooting issues. In the case of escalation, the NetQoS Connector for EMC Smarts will give the NOC and network engineering teams a common language and set of reports to improve collaboration.
A main change brought in by the NetQoS Connector for EMC Smarts is its bi-directional orientation. This is in contrast to the standard single-direction integration offered between similar products. The NetQoS Performance Center can not only alert the Smarts console about a problem, but NOC personnel also have direct access from the Smarts console to relevant NetQoS performance data for quick troubleshooting.
Operators can simply right click on an incident in the Smarts console and select from multiple reports provided by the NetQoS Performance Center.
The NetQoS Connector for EMC Smarts costs around $19,500 and is available from NetQoS as a software download.
