AppRiver Adds Voltage Security Network to its Managed E-Mail Services

By Anshu Shrivastava, TMCnet Contributor

E-mail messaging solutions provider, AppRiver, has said that it partnered with Voltage Security, a provider of information encryption, and added  the Voltage Security (News - Alert) Network to its line of managed e-mail services.

Voltage Security Network is a software-as-a-service (SaaS (News - Alert)) proprietary e-mail encryption technology solution. The addition of this solution will enable AppRiver to equip businesses of all sizes with a data protection for internal and external electronic communication.

A recent report from Saugatuck Technology looks to SaaS and the expectations of the technology in organizations. The report looked specifically at CFO’s and senior finance execs with decision making responsibilities and uncovered that all types and sizes of firms will use SaaS to help improve their ability to meet business goals.

The report focused particularly on the importance of SaaS in the finance department of organizations and found that SaaS adoption within key financial functions and process will grow between 40 and more than 100 percent by the end of 2010.

"Today, it is not just sales and human resource departments taking advantage of SaaS,” said Bill McNee, Saugatuck Technology founder and CEO and co-author of the report. ”Finance organizations see SaaS as increasingly critical to their evolving business goals, and are increasingly investing in SaaS for both point financial processes as well as core systems of record."

Together, AppRiver and Voltage Security expect to address company demands for improved implementation of data protection across their extended business partner network.

AppRiver offers a subscription-based line of SaaS offerings that incorporate the latest anti-virus, anti-spam, anti-phishing, anti-spyware and anti-malware Web services to protect networks from multi-vector security threats.

The Voltage SecureMail encryption system enables end-to-end, content level encryption of e-mail, mobile messages, files and documents and has been integrated with the existing AppRiver infrastructure, and is being delivered through AppRiver’s SaaS delivery platform.

AppRiver’s hosted application delivery combined with Voltage’s patented e-mail encryption technology removes complexity so sending a secure message requires only hitting the "send" button.

“The Voltage Security and AppRiver partnership provides the ideal combination of online services and privacy solutions to address today’s data protection demands,” said Wasim Ahmad, vice president of marketing at Voltage Security.

Michael Murdoch, CEO at AppRiver, added that Voltage brings to the table impressive cryptography innovations, and by partnering with them, AppRiver is continuing to offer clients an elite method for securely sending and receiving confidential information without breaking the bank.

Last month, AppRiver announced the expansion of its security portfolio to include a comprehensive Web filtering solution to protect businesses of all sizes against Web threats.
