salesforce.com has announced that
Nucleus Research’s latest industry research note report titled, “Force.com Drives Faster Development” has found that its Force.com Cloud Computing Platform is 4.9 times faster than JAVA or .NET (

"Companies are accelerating their adoption of the cloud for application development," said Marc Benioff (

Alert), CEO and chairman, salesforce.com. "The benefits of the Force.com platform for enterprise cloud computing are immediate: CIOs get a real-time global infrastructure that enables application development and delivery five times faster at half the cost."
Officials at the company say that the research company had reviewed 17 companies that had used all three development platforms at different times over the last few years for the creation of varied customized solutions, and had agreed to share their detailed real time metrics and developer’s estimates for the assorted projects they had worked on.
Nucleus, say official sources, had specifically included a few system integrators and Independent Software Vendors whose customers had taken the initiative and recommended that their choice of development platform was Force.com.
"Our in-depth analysis shows that cloud computing is dramatically changing the cost and time equation for custom application development," said Rebecca Wettemann, vice president, research, Nucleus Research. "Given the rapid time to value, lower cost, and greater ongoing flexibility, Force.com is likely to grow in popularity as an option for custom application development."
The report also found that customized sub-requirements were rapidly created and then recycled across several projects, developer tools speeded up test case scenarios and assisted in faster configurations of graphic user interfaces, and customized workflow patterns were accelerated with Force.com's workflow engine that has a detailed library of predefined rules, forms and processes.
The solution also offered developers a range of pre-loaded and test certified development friendly environments that include, say the research officials, database and database connectivity, application server, security protocols, and application infrastructure items such as load balancing that assisted developers in focussing on working out solutions rather than spending time on developing support structures from scratch for each project.
"We used the Force.com platform and our expertise from publishing more than 120,000 book titles to develop a system that is transforming our business," said James Stanley, CIO of
Author Solutions. "Our Force.com projects came in under budget and ahead of schedule."
