Software-as-a-Service provider Cvent Inc, recently announced that it has installed 3PAR’s Utility Storage Solution to strengthen internal systems, assist mission critical SaaS (News - Alert) offerings with the network and change its complicated and bulky tape-based backup.
Cvent has been working with 3PAR’s Utility Storage solution from 2004 and officials there say they’ve seen nearly $500,000 in savings in storage administration costs. With the increase in the company’s internal and external storage needs, 3PAR’s Utility Storage Solution and the exceptional features offered by its InServ Storage Servers, continue to be Cvent’s preferred partner in storage solutions.
Founded in 1999, Cvent offers online event management meeting site selection and event sourcing techniques making use of network-based computing delivery model which is built on highly virtualized 3PAR Utility Storage and server from VMware with 3PAR. 3PAR has also been able to ensure better system allocation, efficient resource utilization and greater flexibility in accumulation of new hosts for Cvent’s critical framework which sustains nearly 12000 users. 3PAR Thin Provisioning has also helped in Cvent cut straight-on raw material acquisition costs for new virtual machines by a whopping 95 percent.
Cvent has been able to make a smooth transition from 1 TB to more than 105 TBs on two InServ arrays with 3PAR. Even though Cvent has witnessed tremendous growth over the last few years, it still does not need a committed, full time storage resource for its 3PAR deployment, translating to net savings of more than $100,000 every year. With the self-sufficient 3PAR arrays, Cvent has been able to replace its inefficient entry level SAN and optimize such repetitive tasks such as disk layout optimization, capacity additions, data migration and so on.
3PAR has also been deployed for Cvent’s internal IT requirements. Cvent has a real-time and consistent back process with 3PAR Virtual Copy and Remote Copy, which has helped it make its internal operations more efficient. Virtual Copy improves backup frequency to every four hours from once in a day and Remote Copy assists in an on-demand, self-service automated model for restoring deleted files and cutting down recovery point objectives from two weeks to two hours.
According to 3PAR CEO David Scott, “The fact that our customers continue to come back to us time and time again to help them solve their key business challenges demonstrates how our advanced virtualization technologies, combined with the native simplicity and efficiency of our utility storage platform, deliver benefits that traditional storage vendors simply cannot not offer."
3PAR has been a pioneer in utility storage solutions worldwide and offers customers a viable alternative to old-fashioned arrays through a sound infrastructure with improved flexibility at lower total costs.
