Under the new commercial licensing format, ISVs will be able to acquire licenses and backend support for parts of the Oracle SaaS platform on a month to month basis. ISVs also get the capability to pump up their IT real estate to keep up with expanding company needs, without the need to make any additional investments for never ending licenses. The SaaS for ISVs has been made commercially available to those service providers who are focused on deploying SaaS applications in one-to-many service contracts, based on Oracle Database, Oracle WebLogic Server and the Oracle Application Server.
The Oracle Platform for SaaS comprises the Oracle Database, Oracle Fusion Middleware, Oracle Enterprise Manager and the Oracle VM – this extensive, free and interoperable network of capabilities enables ISVs to develop, install and administer both SaaS and network based applications. The new platform helps ISVs capitalize on the Oracle Grid Computing technologies so that they can provide SaaS and network based applications to several of their corporate subscribers and without compromising on the dynamism, performance, uptime, integration, safety or customization options. A preset Oracle SaaS program too has been devised that will provide commercial and technical assistance to service providers (both hosted and independent) and system integrators.
Oracle has built a reputation for itself in the SaaS market by promoting and distributing its SaaS products and closely collaborating with a vast network of SaaS partners, which include ISVs, SIs and managed hosting partners.
Judson Althoff, senior vice president for worldwide alliances and channels at Oracle said, “With the new monthly licensing model, not only can ISVs leverage Oracle's leading platform for SaaS, they can also scale their investment to meet the evolving demands of their business. The combined Oracle Platform for SaaS and licensing options deliver the power and flexibility ISVs need to compete and win in today's global SaaS marketplace."
