Dataspace Inks Strategic Partnership Deal with Online Tech to Adopt SaaS Model

Online Tech, a Michigan-based managed data center operator, and Dataspace, an Ann Arbor-based business intelligence software and consulting firm, reportedly have entered into a strategic partnership deal to benefit their respective clients. With this, Dataspace has adopted the software-as-a-service (SaaS (News - Alert)) model for its business intelligence offerings.

Online Tech hosts dozens of software-as-a-service (SaaS) providers in its data centers. It specializes in SaaS hosting with a full range of managed colocation, dedicated server and managed server hosting offerings, said the company.

Dataspace offers business intelligence, from basic query and reporting systems to management dashboards, data warehouses, and advanced analytics. It enables organizational transformation by designing and implementing decision support systems. It helps clients in the U.S. and Europe to implement business intelligence and facilitates them to identify trends and turn idle data assets into strategic assets.

Under the terms of the new agreement, Online Tech will be hosting a variety of Dataspace's business intelligence and data warehouse platforms in its data centers, in order to support Dataspace's offerings in vertical markets such as insurance, health care, manufacturing and distribution.

In a release, Ben Taub, CEO of Dataspace, said many of company’s current and prospective clients are interested in implementing company’s advanced reporting, analytic and predictive technologies. However, they don't have the desire to manage the associated software and infrastructure.

With this in mind, Dataspace started packaging its offerings into Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) models, said Taub.

"Software-as-a-Service is quickly becoming the preferred delivery model for software," said Mike Klein, COO of Online Tech, in the release. "SaaS can be deployed quickly across the Internet and removes a number of traditional IT barriers frequently found in client-server deployments.”

Klein added: “Business intelligence delivered through a SaaS model by Dataspace will eliminate the demand on IT departments to invest in high performance, specialized data warehouse platforms, specialized trainings and ongoing hardware and software support costs. Dataspace will be able to deliver a complete Internet-based decision support solution that doesn't require extensive IT support."

Taub further added: “Our choice of Online Tech as our colocation hosting provider allows us to operate as a tightly integrated team, so we can focus on the business solution, and know that the underlying infrastructure will be reliable and cost-effective."

Apart from providing packaged offerings, the new partnership will enable Dataspace to offer the convenience of hosting custom solutions for its clients, who have unique needs.
