Bell Canada Ready to Offer SaaS Server Replication Service

Bell, a subsidiary of BCE (News - Alert) Inc. and a telecom provider in Canada, reportedly announced that it will now offer a server replication service that will help mid-sized customers ensure continuous availability of applications and data, even in the event of a critical systems failure or disaster.

The Bell Server Replication service, provided on the Software-as-a-Service model, features data protection via real-time WAN replication of file servers and databases for Windows Servers, Microsoft Exchange, Microsoft SQL, Microsoft IIS, BlackBerry (News - Alert) and Oracle, application availability via failover and failback for file servers, and continuous data protection that provides data recovery in the event of isolated data corruption episodes. It also offers site compliance through fully automated, scheduled tests without disrupting the production environment or existing data protection and rapid provisioning.

"This service gives our clients Enterprise-class protection on a mid-market budget," said Stéphane Boisvert, president, Bell business markets, in a statement. "Clients are therefore able to free up capital budget for operating expenses. And because it scales rapidly and easily, the Server Replication service expands as the client's business grows."

Reportedly, SaaS (News - Alert)-based services are fast growing segment of the hosting marketplace with growth projected to be as much as 40 percent over the next three years.

"Bell's Server Replication service is a SaaS-based platform that provides real-time replication with minimal downtime, plus instantaneous failover and failback features. And all the customer needs is a high-speed Internet connection," Boisvert said.

Bell has been offering comprehensive and innovative suite of communication services to residential and business customers in Canada. The Company's services include Bell Home Phone local and long distance services, Bell Mobility and Solo Mobile wireless, high-speed Bell Internet, Bell TV direct-to-home satellite and VDSL television, IP-broadband services and information and communications technology services.

The company has yet to disclose the pricing details of this newly announced Server Replication service.
