California County Improves IT Using SaaS from Service-now.com

Service-now.com, a provider of “Modern SaaS (News - Alert)” or IT service automation has announced that Tulare County, California has successfully reorganized disparate IT organizations, ITSM processes and tools in a bid to help conserve public funds and improve IT service delivery to county employees and residents.

In early 2008, before the onset of the California budget crisis, Tulare County set out to rebuild its IT service program and selected modern software as a service (SaaS) from Service-now.com (News - Alert) to replace its two legacy IT service management tools.

Lee Root, support services manager of Tulare County, said that they needed a facelift for the IT department that reflected organizational transformation. He said that after considering many of the legacy ITSM tools, “we determined Service-now.com was the best fit for its breadth and depth of functionality, ease of use and low cost of ownership.”

Due to deployment of modern SaaS, the county no longer spends tens of thousands of dollars every year hosting ITSM applications, owning and maintaining servers or dealing with expensive application upgrades.

Currently, more than 100 Tulare County IT professionals are using Service-now.com to automate IT services - incident, problem and change management, and service catalog - for more than 4,000 county employees and almost 400,000 county residents.
