Sierra Wireless, a provider of products that connect people and machines to wireless networks around the world, has reportedly announced the integration of Anyware Technologies into the company.

 

Anyware Technologies brand has been discontinued and the company has now become an integrated business unit of Sierra Wireless (News - Alert). Company officials said that as part of the integration, the open source solutions and services arm of Anyware Technologies will be spun off as an independent enterprise.

 

The company is expected to focus on IT and Web consulting and will continue to support the open source development of the Ametys CMS tool suite.

 

The new Sierra Wireless business unit provides solutions that allow systems integrators, key accounts and telecom operators to introduce complete machine-to-machine solutions for managing any remote set of equipment.

 

Officials said that the solutions are based on tools that facilitate the development of embedded applications on a platform of machine to machine, or M2M, services that is comprehensive, scalable, secure and compatible with the majority of wireless equipment available on the market.

 

The company believes that Anyware Technologies’ expertise in open source technologies is a strategic advantage, allowing it to offer open source tools that easily integrate into existing systems.

 

Jason Cohenour, president and CEO at Sierra Wireless, said that the integration of Anyware Technologies into Sierra Wireless brings the company a key competitive advantage.

 

He said that the integration provides the company with the ability to round out its portfolio of current products with an innovative software-as-a-service, or Saas, offering and cover the entire value chain for M2M applications.

 

“This integration will enable us to accelerate the roll-out of new customer applications and will rapidly advance our international development,” said Emmanuel Walckenaer, senior vice president and general manager for solutions and services at Sierra Wireless, in a statement.

 

As part of Sierra Wireless, the Anyware Technologies team will continue Sierra Wireless’ track record of providing innovative solutions for the thriving M2M market, Walckenaer said.
