Comtech Telecommunications Corp., a company specializing in products, systems and services for advanced communications solutions, reportedly announced that its Maryland-based subsidiary, Comtech Mobile Datacom Corporation, has received orders totaling $7.6 million under its Movement Tracking System, or MTS contract, with the U.S. Army, to offer engineering support and worldwide installation, training and technical support services and computer keyboard trays.

The United States Army’s Movement Tracking System provides two-way text messaging and position reporting between mobile and fixed assets. Reportedly, Comtech Mobile Datacom (News - Alert) Corporation was awarded the MTS contract in 1999.

MTS is an eight-year contract vehicle, and is said to be available to all U.S. Government Agencies and allied governments. MTS (News - Alert) is said to operate over a variety of geostationary satellites and is designed to transit automatically from one satellite system to another as per the demand.

Comtech Mobile Datacom Corporation is a provider of satellite-enhanced asset tracking and secure mobile data communications to military, government and commercial clients.
With the current order of $7.6 Million, total orders received to date against the $605.1 million MTS contract has now increased to $589.8 million.

“We are pleased to have received these most recent orders that further enable the upgrade of equipment for the MTS Program,” said Fred Kornberg (News - Alert), president and chief executive officer of Comtech Telecommunications Corp., in a statement. “We look forward to our continued involvement in the MTS Program and other critical programs for the Department of Defense.”
