- Alert) PartnerNetwork Platinum-level member WebNMS, a division of ZOHO, has announced it supports MySQL and Oracle Database 11g in its WebNMS Framework, which is a leading network and element management solution.
In making this announcement, WebNMS said it needed a relational database solution that would allow its management system, which has more than 25,000 Tier 1 Carrier deployments, to support the wide-ranging, complex requirements and standards of the communications industry.
It stated its opinion that having the flexibility to integrate either MySQL or Oracle Database 11g in the WebNMS Framework will enable developers and network operators to accommodate increasingly stringent demands for availability and performance on network management workloads, including the proliferation of nodes, higher bandwidth and richer communication services.
“With explosive growth being driven by bandwidth demand and emergence of new technologies in mobile broadband, LTE (News - Alert), IPTV, Optical and Cloud infrastructures, it is critical that our products are backed by technology that can deal with the high demands that are placed on them,” said Eric Wegner, business development manager of ZOHO Corporation.
Wegner went on to say, “With MySQL and Oracle Database 11g, we can do just that -- and our customers can quickly deliver precise levels of performance and availability needed by the service providers who rely on WebNMS to manage and control their network infrastructures.”
WebNMS said it relies on MySQL for its ease-of-use, stability and cost-effective licensing model for its customers. In addition, it said its ubiquity among developers and DBAs, cross-platform support and small footprint enable WebNMS customers to quickly build and deploy highly customizable management systems.
Oracle Database 11g and Oracle Real Application Clusters are integrated into the WebNMS Framework when requirements are for fault-tolerant, high-availability replication, high scalability and performance in a distributed environment.
Zeev Draer, vice president of strategic marketing at MRV (News - Alert), commented that, “The technological value and a field-proven record of WebNMS with the flexibility to deploy MySQL or Oracle Database 11g, has enabled MRV to handle the largest nationwide carrier Ethernet access deployment requirements with state-of-the-art Ethernet services.”
This is clearly an advantage for WebNMS as Draer notes, “In order to maintain a competitive edge, communications service providers require support for the ever-changing service requirements by powering their network with a highly reliable and scalable carrier-grade network management system.”
