To develop and support innovative voice applications for users Singlewire Software, LLC, has released of several free applications for use on most models of Cisco (News
- Alert) IP phones.
According to a press release, these applications offer helpful answers to commonly asked questions such as currency conversion, local time, and local weather.
The customers of Cisco IP phones can access the applications by simply pressing the Applications or Services button on their phone and selecting from a list of configured services.
Jerry Steinhauer, Chief Technical Officer at Singlewire Software said, “These Cisco phone applications are a great way for organizations to provide additional real-time information and resources to employees. The applications are easy to implement, configure, and use.”
The phone keypad is used to enter specific request information like a ZIP code for current weather, or an area code number to display name of a city. The list of applications offered includes: local weather information, a stock ticker, area code look-up, a world clock, and a currency converter.
Singlewire Software also creates and sells a host of voice applications for use with Cisco Unified Communications (News - Alert), including InformaCast.
InformaCast , a full-featured, network-based mass notification, emergency communication, and overhead paging system allows users to simultaneously send an audio and/or text message to a variety of endpoints including IP speakers, Cisco IP phones, overhead paging systems, computer desktops, digital signage, SMS text, social media sites, and more. It can also be used to send bell tones for passing bells in K-12 schools and shift changes in manufacturing environments.
Phone (News - Alert) administrators require simply develop a phone service with the provided URL and assign the service to their organization's phones. Administration should be done by individuals familiar with configuring Cisco Unified Communications Manager (CUCM) or Cisco Unified Communications Manager Express (CME).
In other company news, TMCnet reported that Singlewire Software has released the PagingGateway, the solution allows InformaCast’s audio broadcasts across a network that does not/cannot support multicast traffic on the IP data network.
