Teradici, Westpac Enter Distribution Agreement

Teradici, the developer of the innovative PC-over-IP (PCoIP) protocol that enables a true PC experience for desktop virtualization, recently declared Westpac, a provider of virtual desktop infrastructure server and display solutions in Korea, as the distributor of its APEX 2800 PCoIP server offload card in Korea.

A performance enhancement to VMware View deployments, the Teradici APEX 2800 server offload card offloads PCoIP image encoding from VMware View servers. The card ensures consistent high level user experience at the desktop by dynamically manage unexpected peaks in CPU processing demands. The solution ensures reduced CPU utilization and allows IT managers to provide increased VDI consolidation ratios.

“We are pleased to further strengthen Westpac's partnership with Teradici by distributing the APEX 2800 server offload card in Korea,” said Henry Kim, CEO of Westpac, in a statement. “The virtual desktop market is expected to grow quickly and APEX 2800 will accelerate the growth of VMware VDI deployments in Korea through Westpac.”

“Westpac is dedicated to delivering the latest technology solutions and superior service to their customers,” said Trent Punnett, vice president of marketing at Teradici, in a statement. “We are excited to have them as a key distribution partner to further strengthen Teradici’s presence in Korea.”

In related news, Teradici recently announced that Bob Johnson has joined the organization's leadership team as vice president of Business Development. A well-known technology executive, Johnson will be based in Silicon Valley and will be responsible for managing and establishing strategic partnerships with leading organizations in the workstation, virtual desktop and application publishing markets.

Johnson comes to Teradici with an impressive 25-year career in sales and business development that spans both emerging startups and public corporations. Most recently at IBM (News - Alert) he led business development, strategic alliances and IP licensing efforts in the areas of virtualization, cloud storage/NAS, semiconductors, server/appliances and materials technology.
