GlobalOne, a major player in cloud computing, Software-as-a-Service (SaaS (News
- Alert)) and social collaboration professional services for the enterprise, has launched GlobalOne Mobility.
GlobalOne Mobility is a new practice that will offer professional services for building, deploying and maintaining mobile cloud apps for both consumer and enterprise environments.
Officials with GlobalOne said that GlobalOne Mobility will offer clients a unique combination of mobile consumer app expertise along with cloud computing, SaaS, CRM and social enterprise experience to deliver highly innovative mobile cloud applications.
Company officials pointed out that the GlobalOne Mobility practice also has a contract to build, deploy and maintain mobile applications for Vodafone (News
- Alert) Australia.
"We are thrilled to have Doug Maloney and his team join GlobalOne," said David Northington, CEO of GlobalOne, in a statement.
Northington said that the Appland team has been wildly successful bringing highly scalable apps such as Who2Call and Cricket LIVE Australia to the consumer market.
He said that it's time that companies were allowed to get their wish of using mobile as a serious platform for business applications.
Northington said that this new practice will focus on the tremendous opportunity to bring consumer-style user experience and scale to mobile enterprise applications.
Doug Maloney, former general manager innovation and new business at Vodafone Hutchinson Australia, will lead the new practice as vice president Mobility at GlobalOne.
"Companies are struggling with employees and partners who want to use mobile devices as their main business tool," said Maloney.
Maloney said that however most organizations only support a few traditional mobile applications such as email, calendaring and contact management.
He said that the corporations can significantly improve productivity by delivering key business applications for smartphones and tablets where the user experience matches the expectations set by consumer apps.
“To date, usability, scalability and data integration challenges have limited innovation in enterprise mobile apps. This new team has the expertise to overcome these challenges and bring a whole new era of mobile apps to the enterprise," said Maloney.
"With the launch of this new capability, we will also extend our G1 Solutions Framework to deliver vertical-specific capabilities onto mobile devices," said Geoff Merrick, CTO of GlobalOne.
Merrick said that this new set of mobile apps will empower firms to better enable their mobile workforce, sell products more effectively in real-time, and create an overall competitive advantage.
