CCH CorpSystem Launches SureTax for UCaaS

August 23, 2012

To say that telecom taxes are complicated is an understatement. Each state and many municipalities have different taxation policies for telecom and VoIP services. Cloud-based SureTax from CCH (News - Alert) CorpSystem has provided telecom tax solutions to many Fortune 500 companies. Now, the company has deployed SureTax for Unified-Communications-as-a-Service (UCaaS).

The SureTax database carries real-time information on rates and regulations for over 370 classifications of telecom. This information can help companies to navigate the new and complex world of UCaaS compliance.

“When entering new markets like UCaaS, smart providers turn to the expertise and reliability of SureTax for their telecom tax calculation needs,” said Brent Reeves, VP of Business Development for SureTax. “Our clients understand that they cannot afford the risk of penalties that can result from audits of their taxation policies.”

Many companies that do not typically offer telecom services are entering into the UCaaS sphere. Companies like Avaya, Toshiba (News - Alert) and NEC. CCH CorpSystem is targeting companies like these with its SureTax offering to enable then to master the complex world of telecom tax.

SureTax carries tax information for over 10,000 jurisdictions in the U.S. and Canada. The software delivers solutions for M2M, VoIP, broadband, cable and local services. CCH claims that its informational database is so comprehensive that even the IRS uses it.

“Our research team of tax accountants and tax attorneys keep abreast of all changes to tax law and tax policy to ensure our database is the best in class,” Reeves claimed.

Cloud deployment means no new hardware or software licensing for businesses that want to utilize SureTax. Installation and deployment take just a few days. Also, upgrades are automatically downloaded without requiring the purchase of new software.

SureTax charges companies by the transaction, and transaction prices decrease as the volume of transactions increases. A transaction is a taxable event, which means that if one transaction has multiple associated taxes, the customer is only charged for the transaction itself.

According to a release, three Fortune 500 companies have chosen the SureTax UCaaS solution within the last 90 days, but CCH did not specifically name the companies.
