VMware Unveils Socialcast Integration Engine

VMware, specializing in virtualization and cloud infrastructure, announced the launch of Socialcast Integration Engine, which delivers an advanced set of integration capabilities that will help people and systems connect to their enterprise network.

They can leverage social technology to enhance their businesses in a variety of ways.

According to officials, the Socialcast Integration Engine synergizes the capabilities of Socialcast Reach Version 3, the new Community App Manager and developer of APIs, to let systems make better, more efficient and more secure business decisions.

“Most people are looking at enterprise social adoption upside-down,” said Chuck Dietrich, VP and general manager of social applications, VMware. “The primary goal of adding social to your enterprise is to drive business value, which starts with connecting people and should quickly extend to enhancing your mission-critical business processes. This means social can’t be a parallel process, to realize the full value of enterprise social it needs to permeate the organization and integrate with key systems where business information lives.”

The Socialcast Integration Engine lets people and systems connect via a user-friendly interface that extends social collaboration to business systems like CRM, inventory management and HR applications. This enables the sharing of timely information which can be leveraged by both employees and other systems.

Officials explained that the Socialcast Integration Engine Reach Version 3 features an intuitive setup wizard that simplifies set up and enables integrations in business systems that accept a HTML/Javascript snippet like SharePoint, CRM, ERP, PLM, HCM, Intranets and wikis.

Real-time information sharing is made possible by timely data updating.

The company also announced the introduction of features including new extension types like customizable community trend extension, social recognition tool and new embeddable buttons. The optimized integrations dynamically pull data from their host page to display content.

The user experience is enhanced as it allows sharing into a specific Socialcast group Community App Manager.

Further, the Community App Manager allows developers to securely build apps on the Socialcast platform besides letting IT to securely manage these apps. The Community App Manager includes the OAuth 2.0 security protocol that lets apps securely pass data between the developer’s app and the Socialcast platform.

VMware recently announced the general availability of the new VMware vCloud Suite 5.1, a cloud infrastructure solution that integrates VMware’s virtualization, cloud infrastructure and management portfolio into a single SKU.
