Mutualink Intros Cloud Option for Edge Multimedia Communications Sharing Platform

Mutualink unveiled a new deployment option for its multimedia communications sharing platform, Mutualink Edge. The cloud-based sharing platform is designed for safety and enterprise emergency preparedness.

To augment the capabilities of public safety technology, Mutualink offers the Edge as a Service (EaaS) solution which will reduce the lead time for deployment, as there is no need to install new equipment on the agency’s premises.

As an interoperable communications platform, Mutualink Edge enables community-wide multimedia sharing of radio, voice, text, video, data files and telephone communications in a secure environment. The systems serves the needs of homeland security and defense installations, police and fire departments, transit authorities, hospitals, malls and other entities.

Colin McWay, President of Mutualink said, “The demand for multimedia interoperability solutions has grown. And because the agencies see such a benefit to collaboration, they want to be able to access the technology now, rather than wait 45 days to have the equipment installed.”

The scalable interoperability solution enables secure internal and external communications for daily and emergency use. This new release provides a flexible deployment option for Mutualink’s interoperable communications solution. It enhances the cloud-based deployment of Edge clients to Windows devices along with iPhones and iPads. Edge as a Service (EaaS) will be available for Android (News - Alert) devices soon.

The cloud deployment option can be used to connect disparate legacy communication devices such as radios, video and telephones with new devices like cell phones and tablets, thereby optimizing multimedia collaboration. The future-proof connectivity solution brings together different systems irrespective of how they are connected to the Internet.

Also the administrative console gives each agency more flexibility so that managers can change the number of users depending on changing personnel assignments. The highly-intuitive interface and end-to-end encryption using federally approved AES ciphers enables easy adoption by users.

North Shore-LIJ, a large health care system in the United States, has deployed Mutualink’s secure communications platform in 15 hospitals and one mobile unit. Mutualink’s interoperable response and preparedness platform (IRAPP) enables North Shore-LIJ’s hospitals to share voice, video, data and text communications in real time within the health system, as well as with police, fire, EMS, Emergency Operations Centers (EOCs) and other entities in emergency situations.
