Nexmo Announces Strategic Partnership with 21Vianet

Nexmo, a cloud communication API company, has entered into a strategic partnership with 21Vianet, a Chinese carrier-neutral data center service provider, in order to take cloud-based API communications services into the Chinese market.

Nexmo explained that it is in the connection business where it links one’s cloud applications directly to carriers and does it globally around the clock. Its partnership with 21Vianet will be the first of its kind in the Chinese market sector and should result in a co-branded platform along with easing Nexmo’s efforts to expand into Asia.

Tony Jamous, chief executive officer at Nexmo, said, “Expanding in China has always been of major strategic importance for Nexmo. By partnering with 21Vianet, we are able to offer our services to many more customers in China, with excellent support and resources from the region’s top provider. Further, both companies have just improved the quality of our services, as well as the ability to build out additional localized cloud offerings in the future.”

With Nexmo, users have the option to integrate SMS, Voice and USSD messages using one simple RESTful API. Nexmo employs a direct-to-carrier model where there is low latency for any message, enhanced visibility over handset deliverability which is aided by advanced analytics and there is also no need for any telco middlemen.

The newly signed strategic partnership lets Nexmo to access 21Vianet’s domestic business-to-business sales resources, which include a significant potential customer pool in China. 21Vianet will also get to blend its infrastructure with Nexmo’s cloud communication platform and technical support which should help 21Vianet to further build its telecommunications assets in the region.

21Vianet added that it shares Nexmo’s commitment to providing businesses, developers and consumers with the highest-quality cloud communications services.
