Clarizen Intros Version 2.5 of its SaaS Collaboration Technology

By Anshu Shrivastava, TMCnet Contributor

Clarizen, a provider of on-demand, online project management software, has released the latest version 2.5G of its software as a service (SaaS (News - Alert)) collaboration technology.

This version features enhanced time tracking capabilities, a billing rates manager and a Gantt viewer, according to the company.

The newest version provides customers with a combination of collaboration tools that “boasts” many benefits, including faster implementation, quicker time-to-value, lower risk of adoption failure, and more, said Avinoam Nowogrodski, CEO and co-founder of Clarizen.

With Clarizen, a team can create inter-project shortcuts, user and admin permissions, and job titles and billing rate definitions. In addition, Clarizen allows the team to schedule updates and also enhances time tracking and reporting capabilities.

Company officials said that Clarizen enables users to integrate their project management solution with the various systems in a customized view to move across multiple environments. These systems include Microsoft Outlook, Solidworks and Autodesk’s (News - Alert) AutoCAD software,

Unlike other project-based, SaaS solutions, Clarizen’s Gantt viewer offers an overview of projects, eliminating the need to browse through each task. Also, it offers overtime reporting in timesheets and corresponding reports, ensuring teams can collaborate with respect to schedules, tasks, documents, decisions and activities.

Clarizen 2.5G is equipped with collaboration and integration capabilities to drive organizational value so people do not fall behind on scheduling or executing tasks, said company officials.

Additional 2.5G highlights include as late as possible scheduling (ALAP); shortcuts; super user and financial permissions; job titles and rates, work-item specific rates and project-specific rates; time tracking and approval.

Using a set due date as the starting point, officials said, projects are scheduled, allowing users to see how early each task must be completed to finish the project by the due date. A shortcut can be added when a task in a project affects the tasks of another project.

Officials said that the shortcut links the first project to the second project, enabling the progress of the second project to be automatically updated.

A Super User can view and edit any project without needing to be assigned to it specifically, while features such as job titles and rates, work-item specific rates and project-specific rates allow users to set internal costs and rates for resources in a variety of places.

Officials said that this setting of internal costs and rates is done by assigning rates that are organization-wide and specific to job titles, resources and certain work items. Moreover, users can also report working hours, which can be used for payroll and billing services.

Earlier in November, Company announced its integration with Autodesk’s AutoCAD software, enabling users who work on AutoCAD gain access to Clarizen'sSaaS project management solution.
