Magic Software Releases uniPaaS Version 1.5 Featuring .NET Rich Internet Client

By Anshu Shrivastava, TMCnet Contributor

Magic Software Enterprises has released uniPaaS version 1.5, company’s flagship Rich Internet Application (RIA) and software as a service (SaaS (News - Alert)) enabled application platform (SEAP).

The newest release is equipped with a migration utility for legacy application versions and a native .NET (News - Alert) Rich Internet Application Client, which allows users to take full advantage of .NET capabilities.

Using uniPaaS, IT departments and ISVs can create rich internet business applications that leverage and modernize legacy applications to reach mobile users and connect partners in a supply chain.

Company officials said that uniPaaS provides a browser-free rich internet client, and simplifies the process of creating new business logic by calling routines from existing applications.

uniPaaS features a single development paradigm that automatically handles the Client and Server partitioning. It can also deploy in multiple modes—on-premise as well as on-demand.

Additionally, officials said that new version features an automated migration utility that converts legacy (Record Main) applications to event based logic, and also keeps the functionality of the application intact.

Jeff Kaplan, managing director for THINKstrategies, said that Magic Software's uniPaaS provides ISVs and enterprises with the tools they need to cost-effectively develop RIA and SaaS solutions to cater to their varying requirements.

Unlike traditional Client/Server applications, company officials said that uniPaaS lets customers “better target” mobile and dispersed users and also save on operational and maintenance costs.

Avikam Perry, chief technology officer and vice president of products at Magic Software, called uniPaaS an appealing solution. He added that this product provides partners the ability to quickly respond to and cost-effectively pursue new business opportunities.

“For the customer, uniPaaS gives an unbeatable total-cost-of-ownership (TCO) and the convenience of fully maintaining their applications from a centralized location,” said Perry.

In comparison to RIA platforms that address only the Client tier, Perry said that uniPaaS offers a well-architected framework that gives extensive interoperability with other technologies such as Adobe Flex at the front-end or RPG at the back-end.

Magic Software is a provider of multiple-mode application platform solutions, including Full Client, Rich Internet Applications (RIA) or SaaS modes, and business and process integration solutions.

Earlier in July, the company entered into an alliance with Blat-Lapidot, one of salesforce.com’s leading partners in Europe.
