Central Desktop Introduces Enterprise Solution Package

By Raju Shanbhag, TMCnet Contributor

Central Desktop has released its Enterprise Solution Package. The company claims that this new package is an affordable alternative to traditional collaboration software.

As companies grow in size and workers come from different locations, companies increasingly look for applications such as collaboration software to synchronize the workflow and reduce the cost of traveling. Software such as email, calendaring, text chat, and Wiki is constantly used in these types of applications. But like any emerging technology, collaboration software has its own problems and issues that need to be sorted out.

The Central Desktop platform claims that it offers a complete set of Web 2.0 content, collaboration, conversation and connection tools. According to the company, these tools are integrated into a pure web-based single-sign-on workspace to provide a seamless web 2.0 working atmosphere.

The Central Desktop Enterprise Edition starts at $499/month and has five plans to suit all types of companies. The workflow system integrated into Central Desktop's file system, databases, time-tracking and help-desk tools. Also, to provide maximum security, it offers perimeter, network, server, application and data security options.

“Our enterprise customers demand deep functionality and a high-level of security and reliability along with integration into existing systems and applications, but companies today don't want to pay for or maintain expensive hardware or software. "Our sole focus is to bring business users the best technology available on the market with the least amount of resistance.”

Annual subscribers of this package will get a guaranteed minimum level of up-time and service, says the company. The new product is also integrated with Salesforce.com (News - Alert) and offers a single sign-on experience between the two applications.

Based on its pure SaaS (News - Alert) social technology platform, Central Desktop offers features such as workflow, enhanced security, SLAs and deep application integration for teams of 100-1000 users, says the company.

The collaboration facilities provided by Central Desktop have even helped the Barack Obama Presidential Campaign at the grass root level. The Obama Campaign team relied on Central Desktop to manage the process of hiring, managing and sharing critical information with thousands of precinct captain volunteers hired to drive their neighbors to the polls for the Presidential primary.
