IntelePeer Wins Best of Show at ITEXPO, Predicts Continued Growth
By Erik Linask, Group Editorial Director
When I spoke with IntelePeer’s Senior vice president of Business Development John Hart and vice president of Product Management and Marketing Charles Studt last week at ITEXPO in Miami, Hart explained that despite the struggling economy, IntelePeer (News - Alert) is seeing widespread success with its AppworX platform. That’s shouldn’t come as a surprise to anyone following the IP Communications space — the platform leverages the growing shift to IP-based communications, providing a facility to voice-enable basically any application, creating nearly limitless VoIP calling capabilities from directly within applications, promoting what IntelePeer calls a Communications as a Service (CaaS) model.
“We look at Communications as a Service as SaaS (News - Alert) with some extras inside it,” explained Studt last fall, when the AppworX platform was first announced. “Bundled together with hardware and the network, it becomes more than just software — it becomes communications.”
Based on the success of the platform and the innovation is embodies, IntelePeer was awarded a Best of Show award for Best Service Provider Application at ITEXPO (News - Alert), which drew more than 8,300 attendees, despite uncertainty on the part of many exhibitors as to how well the show would draw, given the economy.
Having spoken with numerous exhibitors during the event, the resounding sentiment was that not only was the attendance above most expectations, but the quality of both attendees and content was astounding. Read Rich Tehrani’s take on the show, along with comments from many of the exhibitors, speakers, and industry insiders following the event.
As for IntelePeer, the success of the AppworX platform was evident at the show, as Hart noted they were able to solidify deals with several customers during the event.
The AppworX platform, which Studt describes as the “bridge between the communications world and the application, software, and IP worlds,” allows rich communications to be embedded into other applications, which can then be seamlessly delivered to the end user. Hart explained that the platform is seeing significant uptake in three distinct areas: conferencing, CRM, and the carrier market.
IntelePeer has now enhanced its platform with the addition of its ReachSuite applications, which is designed to further facilitate collaboration and communication in an easy and highly intuitive manner, including the ability to initiate conference calls directly from within Microsoft (News - Alert) Outlook, using ReachOut, the first of the new pre-built applications.
With its ability to help cut communications costs and build new communications capabilities, IntelePeer, as Hart says, is “on the forefront of hosted communications.” In fact, he optimistically predicts another doubling up of revenues in 2009.
