CubeTree Enables Enterprise Collaboration on Social Networking Platform
By Rajani Baburajan, TMCnet Contributor
CubeTree, a provider of enterprise collaboration suite, announced the first free enterprise collaboration suite built on a social networking platform.
Carlin Wiegner, chief executive officer and co-founder of CubeTree commented that social technology that originated in the consumer space can revolutionize enterprise collaboration.
“Companies recognize the link between collaboration technology and employee productivity,” Wiegner added. “Unfortunately, overflowing inboxes and the current state of most companies’ intranets fail to connect employees effectively and help them collaborate efficiently.”
In order to reap the full benefits from any collaboration technology, everyone in an organization must have access, Wiegner added.
CubeTree enables employees to connect, communicate and collaborate efficiently and securely using a suite of full-featured, integrated tools. The new collaboration suite, according to officials, is the industry’s first free enterprise intranet product built on a social networking platform.
Officials said, the new CubeTree offers all the important people-centric features offered on today’s most popular consumer social networking sites. Additionally, CubeTree offers enterprise collaboration tools including wikis, file sharing, polls, goals management, travel-itinerary sharing, file sharing, link sharing, search, and more.
CubeTree’s powerful feed architecture allows users to broadcast their activities from within CubeTree, as well as from other collaboration tools. It seamlessly integrates with other industry leading products including Twitter, Google Docs and Google Reader, Salesforce.com (News - Alert), meetings from WebEx and Adobe Acrobat Connect Pro, and project management updates from Basecamp.
The company ensures that all of company’s proprietary files, images, updates and internal communications remain confidential. Only employees with the same email domain can access their company’s CubeTree network, and every page request is securely served via HTTPS, officials said. It is hosted at Rackspace, which provides secure hosting services.
CubeTree collaboration suite is offered in three different versions: Standard Edition, Professional Edition and Enterprise Edition.
Its standard version is offered free to unlimited users within a company network. It includes all social networking and collaborative features, SSL for all traffic and 10 MB of storage per user.
The Professional Edition and Enterprise Edition offer additional storage and management features. Professional Edition can be purchased by a set of users within a company network for USD $3 per user per month.
Enterprise Edition, according to officials, provides more comprehensive administrative features, and requires a license for every user in the organization. The cost of this service is USD $5 per user per month. CubeTree has also announced a volume discount option for both Professional Edition and Enterprise Edition users.
Mitch Kapor, an investor in CubeTree and software pioneer, says that with products like CubeTree, conventional online communications methods such as email and instant messaging (IM) will soon lose their dominance in enterprise communications arena.
