Attivio Engine Selected by Questex Media for Web Migration

By Raju Shanbhag, TMCnet Contributor

The Attivio Active Intelligence Engine has been selected by Questex Travel Group, a division of Questex Media Group, to transfer its print content to the Web format. This partnership will allow Questex to explore new revenue streams, the companies say.

As digital-media age customers look at content as the primary source of news, companies such as Questex are waking up to new possibilities, helped by solution providers who can convert a large amount of printed content into innovative online content.

The Attivio system will move Questex’s print and Web content onto a single content management system. The system has the ability to create searchable content by combining various data sources into a single index that contains internal and external content, user-generated content, pictures and video.

“In the publishing industry, numbers are king; in order to be successful, publications need to develop a loyal and sizeable consumer base, while optimizing operations around innovation and cost control,” said Ali Riaz, chief executive officer of Attivio. “Increasingly, creating a unique online experience is becoming a must-have to keep readers engaged and attract new subscribers. Through Attivio’s industry-leading vision and capabilities, Questex will be able to achieve these goals.”

The unified index created by Attivio reduces the development time considerably and creates a common platform to develop a standard search interface, faceted navigation, alerts and improved relevancy throughout Questex Travel Group websites. Questex Travel Group will also be able to increase viewer loyalty and user transactions with Attivio’s Rich Internet Applications (RIA). Through the seamless creation of micro sites, AIE also increases personalization.

Recently, Attivio entered into a technology agreement with EntropySoft, a specialist in the enterprise content integration (ECI) market. With this, Attivio plans to integrate a wide selection of bidirectional enterprise connectors from EntropySoft into its Active Intelligence Engine (AIE). The inclusion of EntropySoft technology expands out-of-the-box connectivity for Attivio customers, increasing access to critical information across the enterprise, the groups say.
