HP Launches Snapfish for Digital Photos

By Raju Shanbhag, TMCnet Contributor

Creating digital albums and accessing them easily online is among the features that are highly in demand these days. Keeping this in mind, HP has reportedly designed a new tool to access and share photos.

The new tool, called Snapfish, lets users quickly create custom photo books. It provides increased control over the photos they put online. A new feature called ‘Magic Layouts’ provides automated custom layouts that enhance the appeal of photo books. The features such as drag and drop facilities and automatic width adjustments provide more control to the users, HP said.

Customers can cycle through alternate layouts optimized for their books’ artwork with each click of the Shuffle button. Users can drag and drop up to 15 photos onto a page and it’s easy to undo and redo edits, even many steps back. Snapfish also helps Facebook users print photos from their Snapfish albums.

“We know our customers are savvy and juggle busy, on-the-go lives while wanting the ultimate in convenience when considering ways to make the most of their photos,” said Ben Nelson, general manager, Snapfish by HP, in a statement. “By adding speed and introducing new platforms, we are simplifying the way they upload, create and share their memories.”

The process temporarily copies the photos to Snapfish to order for home delivery or to pick up at retail. Users can now take the first step in getting JPEGs off their digital cameras and hard drives and onto the site with Snapfish Express Upload.

Recently, the company partnered with Tesco to grow Tesco's photo publishing offerings. The relationship will see the retailer roll out HP's retail publishing solutions to more Tesco Extra stores across the U.K.

The collaboration will let customers choose from more than 300 creative print projects, print photos or order personalized gifts conveniently as they shop for groceries. Tesco plans now plans to roll out the full suite of HP's award-winning HP Photo Center solutions to more Tesco Extra stores across the U.K.
