The ultimate winner will be decided on by MTV.

In a release, David Meredith, the CEO of uPlaya commented on the campaign with MTV to identify a nascent musical talent pool and on the company’s decision to work with MTV for this exercise. He said, “MTV's track record for launching the careers of talented artists fits well with uPlaya's mission to help new artists get discovered. The editorial evaluation and coverage from MTV for the winner provides the perfect complement to the promotional tools an artist gets by joining uPlaya."

The New York Times Magazine had earlier mentioned the Hit Song Science rating system in its annual publication of “Year in Ideas: Bright Notions, Bold Inventions.” The Harvard Business School had also featured the Hit Song Science in a complete case study exercise.
