Rogers Wireless Partners with LG to Introduce LG Eve

By Raju Shanbhag, TMCnet Contributor

As the social networking takes center stage in the Internet world, LG Electronics Canada and Rogers Wireless have reportedly teamed up to provide LG Eve, a new Android (News - Alert) OS-based smart phone designed specifically for social networking.

The LG Eve lets users access their social networking web sites from anywhere, anytime.

Mobile social networking is on the rise as many sites such MySpace and Facebook offer specialized services to users to browse their sites through the mobile. MySpace entered the mobile social networking arena as early as 2006 and the company has been registering significant gains this field since then.

Combining a user's Facebook (News - Alert), Twitter and Bebo networks into one place, the LG Eve features a special application called Social Network Services Manager. In addition, LG Eve also allows the users to read log for each contact.

“The LG Eve is the smart phone that social networking fans have been waiting for, and we're so happy to bring it to Canadians before any other market," said Colin Bettam, vice-president marketing, LG Electronics (News - Alert) Canada, in a statement. "Whether it's managing your Facebook page or downloading one of the thousands of applications, the LG Eve lets you connect to your world, your way.”

Also, the LG Eve alerts users if a new message arrives to a personal email account. It also puts a person's address book contacts as the central reference and launching point for a variety of social media tools. Other features include a 3D gallery for viewing and sorting photos, video playback and recoding, 5 Mega Pixels AF, USB 2.0 HS, Bluetooth 2.0 EDR, and 5 line QWERTY keypad.

Along with LG Eve, Rogers has also introduced products such as the Nokia (News - Alert) N86 smart phone, and Sony Ericsson Xperia X1. TMCnet’s Senior Contributing Editor Brendan B. Read reports that Rogers has been perfecting the GSM family of technologies for nearly 10 years. These devices, along with the BlackBerry (News - Alert) Bold 9000 in white, the HTC Magic form what the company calls “The ultimate Web phone lineup.”
