Ubikwiti Offers Free SaaS to SMBs

Providing an alternative to single company users of Xero’s accounting system, Ubikwiti has launched a free, “no strings” software-as-a-service for SMBs that’s hosted on Amazon.com (News - Alert) servers.

Amazon.com data centers in the United States host all Ubikwiti software and customer data.

Software-as-a-service is a huge attraction for SMBs and small businesses, especially during this economic recession, since the technology saves on installation and maintenance costs.

Companies don’t have to shell out huge money in purchasing the software licensing agreements as they can get the license for these applications only when they need it. But even the cost of maintaining SaaS (News - Alert) can be higher sometimes for these cash starved companies.

With Ubikwiti offering free SaaS, customers of Xero Ltd can $255 per annum for the first year, and about $300 per annum subsequently. If customers pre-pay for twelve months, even Xero provides new signups a 30 days free trial period and a one-time discount of $45. Xero is a trademark of Xero.

Ubikwiti CEO Tim Loving, said his Online Software for SMBs, although free, does not skimp on features and functionalities.

“It has all the functionality needed to enable SMBs providing products and services to manage customers and customer-related activities, as well as vendors and vendor-related activities,” Loving said. “Full financial reports are available, including profit and loss report and balance sheet.”

Ubikwiti feels that the customers do not need any accounting knowledge or technical programming skills to operate its service. It’s also easier to setup and customize the software, says Ubikwiti.

Apart from Ubikwiti, many other companies have provided free SaaS for their customers. In November last year, Park Avenue Medical Data Systems, or PAMDS, a provider of software solutions for the electronic healthcare record arena, introduced “PQRI Made Easy”, a free software-as-a-service product that enables office-based physicians, hospitals for outpatient services, and medical facilities to earn pay-for-performance bonus payments from Medicare pursuant to the CMS physician quality reporting initiative.
