Proofpoint Introduces a New Version of Proofpoint ARCHIVE
By Raju Shanbhag, TMCnet Contributor
Proofpoint has unveiled Proofpoint's (News - Alert) SaaS email archiving solution, the company’s new version of Proofpoint ARCHIVE. The company states that with Proofpoint ARCHIVE, it will be easier for the customers to securely archive email and solve the storage management, legal discovery and regulatory compliance challenges associated with email retention.
Proofpoint Archive was designed to address three different business challenges -- litigation readiness, a systematic review process and storage management in the mail system. The new version of the solution has hundreds of new features which includes improved sampling, storage management and legal hold procedures.
According to Proofpoint, the DoubleBlind Encryption technology used in Proofpoint ARCHIVE has been granted US patent #7,512,814 ("Secure and Searchable Storage System and Method") by the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office. With this, Proofpoint ARCHIVE users get guaranteed data security coupled with high-speed searchability.
“Traditional enterprise email archiving solutions have forced enterprises to compromise on either security or cost of ownership. On-premises archiving solutions have proven expensive to install and maintain, hard to scale and provide unending IT headaches," said Andres Kohn, vice president & general manager for Proofpoint's email archiving business. "Proofpoint's next-generation SaaS (News - Alert) approach coupled with patented encryption technology provides the security and functionality of on-premises solutions”
To offer the performance, scalability and cost savings of SaaS while providing the highest levels of security for each organization's archived data, Proofpoint ARCHIVE combines storage and search in the cloud with a lightweight, on-premises appliance. It also provides separation of email data in the cloud and encryption keys on the customer's premises. This makes the protected information accessible only when the two components are used together.
The company recently posted its highest-ever revenues during the first quarter of 2009, a feat the company attributed to growing demand for its Software-as-a-Service solutions. The growth has also been marked by customers switching in favor of the company’s e-mail security products from their legacy products, according to the company. The highlights of this report included Proofpoint’s largest e-mail archiving transaction to date.
