ARRIS has announced that the ConvergeMedia Management Suite formerly known as nABLE can be now used to dynamically manage heterogeneous OnDemand content across multiple video servers. This is expected to optimize service provider resources for network bandwidth, video server storage and streaming.
This new functionality is enabled by Management Suite release 1.0 from the company. This software is capable of managing content ingest, distribution and dynamic re-distribution of content across servers in the service provider network, said company sources.
Service providers will be able to deploy media libraries of mixed and heterogeneous content on their networks of video server deployments according to requirement. They can also offer their VOD deployments covering more communities by using edge servers which were not cost effective previously owing to management overhead and difference in edge server numbers that were required.
ConvergeMedia Management Suite and storage platforms also support fully integrated advanced advertising features such as ad insertion and interactivity which allows service providers to launch new services using the existing servers.
“With the growth in the type and quantity of media and consumption devices, it becomes even more important to ingest, distribute and manage such assets cost effectively and easily across small and large networks,” said Joe Matarese, VP and GM, media and communications systems, in a release.
“The new Management Suite platform delivers enhanced services to our clients’ subscribers no matter where they are and when they want to be entertained,” he added.
All types of media content can be managed seamlessly in real-time in a dynamic manner so that service providers can enhance their services further. The ConvergeMedia management and distribution platforms help operators deploy large libraries of OnDemand content employing different servers for various media formats.
The ConvergeMedia OnDemand management platform also helps operators to converge high speed data and video services with OnDemand and advanced advertising by offering content search capabilities, recommendation engine integration and personalized features, said company sources.
Subscribers will be able to push personalized search and content to different media devices like playback on TV, PC or smart mobile device. It also provides full-cycle content management including acquisition to consumption, heterogeneous and hierarchical content for optimal storage and streaming besides supporting ‘always-on’ advertising and OnDemand services.
