ScanSource to Provide Plantronics Device-as-a-Service Pro for CSPs

May 28, 2015

Innovations in cloud technology are allowing service providers to offer almost every imaginable IT solution without the capital and operational expenditure of legacy systems. This has increased the availability of high-end software, platforms and infrastructure to a wider audience, which previously was only available to large enterprises. With more as-a-service solutions entering the market place, device manufacturers have also joined the movement by offering their products with this model. Device-as-a-Service (DaaS) is being presented to cloud service providers (CSPs) by manufacturers so they can give their customers a more affordable way to use technologies that they otherwise wouldn’t have considered. The Plantronics Device-as-a-Service Pro (DaaS) is the latest solution being offered by ScanSource Communications (News - Alert), a value-added distributor of communications products.

ScanSource announced it is going to provide CSP’s with an ingenious solution that will allow their end-users a subscription-based cloud model delivering Plantronics’ (News - Alert) unified communications audio devices and services.

The DaaS Pro is designed to make the headsets that Plantronics manufactures more readily available with a simplified and budget-friendly program so CSPs can include it in the solutions they offer. ScanSource stated this is not a lease or warranty, and if properly implemented it will provide a recurring monthly revenue stream for these companies.

The benefit for the end-user is it offers a flexible and scalable platform to a product that is recognized industry wide as a quality audio device. As UC continues to increase in adoption by small and large organizations, audio devices will also be key components of that growth.

“Today, with the need for clear, crisp voice in unified communications, organizations are realizing the importance of having well-integrated, high-quality audio endpoints as part of a comprehensive UC solution,” said Erna Arnesen, vice president of channel and alliance marketing at Plantronics.

The Plantronics Device-as-a-Service Pro program provides:

  • A 12, 24 or 36 month subscription offering Plantronics UC audio devices and services with a flexible solution;
  • A great high-value hardware and service extension to current cloud services offerings;
  • Plantronics handles the logistics, support and financing, with end users paying monthly for a fixed term;
  • A one-stop shop facility for all their cloud service needs – from you, their trusted partner; and
  • Access to headset technology that matches users’ work styles.

“This program offers an avenue for CSPs to add headsets to their solutions up front, without having to worry about buying, selling or servicing them. Our customers will reap the benefits of this one-stop-shop enhancement for their communications offerings,” said Brian Cuppett (News - Alert), vice president of merchandising, ScanSource Communications.
