Train Operator in Sweden Chooses Logica for Application Management

By Raju Shanbhag, TMCnet Contributor

Logica has entered into a partnership with SJ, the Swedish passenger rail service company. Spanning a period of five years and worth over ten million dollars, this agreement will require Logica to manage 32 applications and systems within SJ’s operations.

SJ is continuously looking to develop its services and operations by updating resources and adapting new technologies into its system. The agreement with Logica will help SJ to utilize its available resources to the fullest by using the right locations from its global network. This will not only help SJ to improve its services economically, but it will also allow the company to offer flexible service to its customers.

In the time of recession, every company is cost conscious. According to SJ, Logica provides them with affordable rates and the company also has the ability to combine local and international competencies they became our chosen supplier.

“It is very rewarding to win trust from a company such as SJ, to deliver business critical applications and systems of this scale and importance. We are experiencing a strong interest in the market for our outsourcing services using our proven blended delivery model. We hope the combination of our local and international expertise will deliver to SJ’s expectations.” says Stefan Gardefjord, CEO Logica Sweden.

SJ was looking to achieve increased functionality and service delivery of its systems. The company believes that this upgrade will provide passengers even better availability and quality.  The company opted for Logica as it provided them with availability, quality, environment, security and proactive approach, states SJ.

SJ was also looking to be more cost conscious as many others in the world, the company too is trying to keep the profitability going in these times. SJ believes that the solutions provided by Logica allow the customers to cut costs.

Recently, the information management unit of the Finnish judicial administration has selected Logica to develop online service capabilities that will enable its citizens to apply for legal aid online. The new system is scheduled to be completed by mid-2009.
